Welcome
Merton College is one of the oldest and most beautiful colleges in Oxford, tucked away behind the High Street, with glorious views across Christ Church Meadows but within easy reach of other University buildings and the city centre. Over the centuries, many eminent scholars and cultural leaders have called Merton home. They include four Nobel prize winners, the physician who discovered the circulation of blood, the founder of the Bodleian Library and the mathematician who solved Fermat’s Last Theorem.
The College community currently comprises around 610 students (310 undergraduate and 300 graduate) across a range of Humanities, Social Science, and Science subjects, alongside some 65 Fellows, 40 other academic staff, and over 100 members of support staff.
The College is well-known for the outstanding achievements of its undergraduates, and the high performance of its graduates. Merton is a friendly and supportive community, which encourages diversity and excellence in all its activities.
