Welcome
Dear Applicant
CREATING BETTER OUTCOMES TOGETHER
Thank you for your interest in joining our exciting legal partnership, SHAPE Law. There has never been a more interesting or challenging time to be a lawyer in local government. The best lawyers in local government are working at the heart of public service transformation, underpinning change and promoting new models of delivery. At the same time they are delivering quality legal advice to elected members and chief officers about an increasingly complex service portfolio, where the needs of residents and communities may never have been higher. As if that wasn’t enough, reduced funding means the need to generate income streams as well as support wider commercialisation agendas is never far away!
These opportunities will place you in an organisation that is facing up to these challenges head on. SHAPE Law is one arm of a broader partnership of public, private and voluntary organisations; through a programme of transformational projects we are pro-actively working together to shape new approaches that enhance our services and delight our customers. For candidates with an interest in extending their career beyond law & governance, SHAPE could be an exciting longer term career destination.
Of course it helps that in Mendip you will be working in one of the UK’s most attractive areas. The benefits of our proximity to Bristol and Bath marry nicely with our rural offer, one comprising individually distinctive towns and villages, as well as areas of outstanding natural beauty and sites of major historical significance.
I am looking for lawyers operating at the top of their game, who can bring customer excellence, drive and legal expertise as well as a keen interest in using their professional skills and experience to improve the lives of people and the places in which they live.
Please take some time to read more about SHAPE Law and I do hope you choose to apply for one of these outstanding opportunities.
Yours faithfully
Donna Nolan
Deputy Chief Executive
