Employee wellbeing

We have a health and wellbeing strategy which aims to take a proactive and engaging approach to enhancing the health and wellbeing of our employees.

The objectives of this strategy are:

Employee pensions

All our employees are eligible to join the The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a statutory, funded pension scheme. As such it is very secure because its benefits are defined and set out in law.

Lifelong Learning Agreement

The Lifelong Learning Agreement made between Unions and we also have the stated aim of building and maintaining a culture where learning is seen as an integral part of the lifestyle of our employees.

Our flexible working scheme

We support flexibility in managing working time. As well as a flexi-time scheme, which allows flexibility of start and finish times and length of breaks within the normal working week, there are a number of flexible working alternatives, which can be considered, such as part time work, job sharing, compressed hours, term time only or annualised hours. All flexible working arrangements must meet the needs of the service, but aim to also support the individual employee to obtain a better work life balance.

The Flexible Working Policy has five key objectives:

  • To enable the council to meet business needs and provide a quality-driven, added-value service to customers

About the role

The City of Lincoln Council is looking to appoint an experienced property professional to take on this strategic role, focussing on maximising the potential of the Council’s land and property. You will be joining us at an exciting time when we are in the process of delivering a number of high profile projects and commercial investment opportunities and you will take a lead role in the delivery of these programmes.

The post also has a key management role to play with responsibility for the provision of an efficient and economic estate management service involving the administration, acquisition, disposal, management, letting and valuation of property, along with the provision of a highly effective facilities management function for the Council’s corporate property assets.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A strategic thinker, capable of generating and encouraging innovative solutions.
  • An inspirational and motivational leader who can manage a wide-range of people and projects.
  • An effective communicator who is influential, persuasive and self-confident, balancing strategic leadership with effective commercial management.

You will need:

  • Delivered a wide range of major projects/programmes, working in partnership with public and private sector partners, to meet strategic objectives.
  • Experience of delivering transformational change, leading on complex estate management initiatives and delivering efficiency savings from property portfolios.
  • A proven track record in managing a diverse property portfolio.
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
