The Project

Cardiff University has committed to delivering a student experience that is a byword for excellence. The Centre for Student Life project proposed will provide tangible evidence of this commitment. It will comprise a new purpose-built landmark building (CSL) adjacent to the current Students’ Union (SU) on Park Place, supported by two smaller facilities located at Heath Park and Queen’s Buildings.

The new CSL building will provide a main reception point for the University. It will co-locate all student-facing services and provide extended hours access to high quality learning and social facilities. It will incorporate exhibition and public engagement space, as well as opportunities for revenue generation.

The new building will work in partnership with the existing SU building to strengthen the relationship between SU and CSL services while maintaining the distinctive merits of each. The new building will strengthen the University’s presence in the City Centre, supported by an upgraded and enhanced visual impact of the SU building on Park Place.
