Thank you for your interest in Jobs with Ashcroft High School.

We are an 11-16 mixed comprehensive school with just over 1230 students. We were judged to be good with outstanding leadership management by Ofsted in October 2013. Our students come from a wide range of ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds; this diversity creates an interesting range of exciting opportunities and educational challenges.

The school is on a journey to move from good with outstanding leadership and management to outstanding (i.e: outstanding in all areas of provision), as we are determined to provide all Ashcroft students with an education second to none.

Ashcroft High School students learn best when they are engaged in active learning, both within and outside the classroom. If your teaching style is ‘chalk and talk’ then our school is not for you.

Our students respond very well to teachers who take firm control of the lesson and create a positive learning environment, adhere to the school’s behaviour strategy consistently, command respect and show them respect, challenge them intellectually, and demand nothing less than their very best in terms of work and behaviour.

Ashcroft High School is a great place to be a student and a member of staff. Staff have to work extremely hard to achieve the outstanding outcomes that they currently do achieve for our students. You will be working with committed colleagues who see teaching as a vocation rather than simply a way to pay the mortgage.

You will also be richly rewarded for your commitment to our students by their sparky engagement with their own learning and their recognition that you are making a difference to their life chances by your high quality teaching. In short, our students demand much of us, but give a great deal back.

The school has come to the end of a major rebuilding programme, which has provided us with modern, vibrant learning spaces in all subjects, a new theatre, and a cafe for adult use.
